Who We Are?
The Bowel Cancer Foundation was formed in 2022 when Kaizen Gastro Care opened in Wakad, PCMC, Pune with the ‘provide best gastro solution to our society‘ as its mission.
The plan was to have the headquarters in Pune the aims of the Society were to:
- provide consultation clinics for Bowel/Colon cancer and treatment of cancer
- begin and maintain research into the increasing bowel cancer cases in India
Bowel Cancer Research Foundation is founded by Dr. Samrat Jankar – Colorectal Surgeon in Pune, India who has been treating patients with colorectal cancer over the past two decades. They observed that the incidence of the disease is on a gradual rise due to changes in eating habits and a shift to a western lifestyle. The ignorance of the general public about this disease adds to the poor outcome of the disease as they present very late. In addition, they implicate the symptoms of this disease to various benign causes, especially hemorrhoids, and hence cancer goes undetected till a very advanced stage when a complete cure is not possible. Education: The Foundation is committed to providing evidence-based information about how you can prevent cancer or detect it early through healthy lifestyle choices, vaccinations, and medical screenings.
Outreach: The Foundation reaches out to communities through programs and grants that allow us to fund nationally and globally and act locally. By empowering those who know their communities best, we can help implement lifesaving programs that benefit all populations, especially the medically underserved.
